Accent Academy is Officially a Business!

If this is the first article you’ve read by me, hello! I’m Reeya Deshpande, now a high-school senior and officially a for-profit entrepreneur. I run a freemium American accent training organization called ‘Accent Academy’.

Yesterday, after months of working on this passion project of mine, I received my first ever payment from a client— and Accent Acadamy received its first influx of revenue.

The money wasn’t a lot, but it was one of the most exhilarating moments of my life. It was inarguably much cooler than taking my first steps, and a lot more work too. This milestone has made me so grateful for all the small successes along the way. Allow me to share a few and let’s take a trip down memory lane.

A few weeks into launch I checked my site to see five active visitors reading the material I posted!

After weeks of SEO tweaking, I finally hit the jackpot. Today AccentAcademy.org is the first result when you type ‘Accent Academy’ in Google. Go ahead, try it!

I’d also like to pay homage to a moment that I didn’t capture. On May 30th, 2021, my Youtube channel reached 100 subscribers.

I’m so honored to help out my Indian community with my small business, and this journey has helped me understand one thing.

Philanthropy is not the only way to help people.

Every day I see amazing young adults take up the challenge of learning the American accent, which is not an easy feat.

I’ve never heard people thank me for doing my job until Accent Academy. It’s the best feeling ever, making a mark on the world and helping your own people in the process. Accent Academy doesn’t just teach an accent, it inspires confidence in my students, and I’m just glad that I led them there.

So I’d like to say thank you to Dikshita, Kushagra, Milton, Shahira, Alan, Aryan, Brintha, and numerous other students for making my dream of being a social entrepreneur come true.
